This role is accountable for delivering first-class enterprise risk management across the organisation. You will be responsible for developing, structuring, resourcing, and delivering a vision for risk, and a risk operating model, which improves the airline’s Enterprise Risk capability at all levels. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, you will ensure the effective management of risk organisation-wide and reduce material financial loss.
  • Develop and embed the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, ensuring it aligns with Virgin Atlantic’s strategic aims and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the facilitation of the company’s risk management process, supporting the development and enhancement of controls, and identifying opportunities for process and control improvements.
  • Work closely with the business to develop and implement a risk road map, maintain and coordinate risk registers, heat maps, and action plans.
  • Drive awareness of good enterprise risk governance across the airline, building and maintaining strong and collaborative working relationships.
  • Develop, implement, and roll out consolidated, insightful, and actionable risk reporting across the entire business.
  • Engage in activities to mature risk management, including the development of sub-risks and controls, and the implementation and ongoing management of risk tools.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to risk owners in each directorate on managing risk and compliance with the group's enterprise risk management requirements.
  • Facilitate regular consideration of risk policies and risk appetite with the Main Board and Audit Committee.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Risk Management frameworks and evidence of designing, implementing, and embedding Enterprise Risk Management frameworks in complex organisations.
  • Proven experience in effective collaboration and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders, including director level.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills, with a focus on leading by example, coaching, and development.
  • A positive and pragmatic results-oriented mindset focused on improving business results through effective risk management and mitigation.
  • Project management experience demonstrating planning and organisational skills required to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Recognised risk management qualification such as CRMP or CRISC (desirable) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Qualified accountant or Risk Management specialist with relevant experience, ideally gained in professional practice or in a large multinational corporate.
  • Exposure to the aviation sector or related industry (desirable).
  • Prior experience identifying, building cases for investment, and technical implementation of new risk management technologies.
  • Prior supplier relationship management experience.
