IT Jobs at Virgin Atlantic
From our Receptionists to our Engineers, our Cabin Crew to our Contact Centre staff, everyone at Virgin Atlantic relies on some form of IT to do their job. Add that to the fact we’re a global organisation made up of various specialist areas, and you can see why IT plays such a starring role in our success.
Our IT team works with the business to support our people and identify improvements to current ways of working that will benefit our customers and our staff. It’s up to us to implement innovations that our customers will love. It’s our responsibility to help our people do their job as seamlessly as possible. By making brilliant use of technology, we can deliver even better products and services and create a better place to work.
What’s it like to work in IT?
It’s dynamic, engaging and challenging – just like the world of technology itself. We work at a fast pace, so we’ll expect you to keep up whilst being diplomatic and showing unwavering commitment. We love to see innovative thinking, but you’ll also need the discipline to follow our processes.
Whatever your title, your key responsibility is to partner and shadow the business and develop a knack for understanding our business requirements. Our projects are wide reaching and varied – more so than you’d imagine for a company of our size. You might end up working on a BAU project or you could wind up involved in a major reinvention programme. Find out more about roles within our Technology team below.
IT Security jobs
Help to maintain and monitor elements related to our IT security, in addition to improving operational business and technology security controls which protect the integrity and availability of information. You’ll play a key part in minimising security risks and maintaining compliance with our security standards, as well as legislation and regulations.
Who do we look for?
Due to the nature of IT security, you’ll be expected to prioritise conflicting demands and requirements. You should have experience in clearly presenting complex information in various formats, such as written reports and documents, as well as verbally through on-going stakeholder engagement. Current knowledge of threats and techniques is also a must.
IT Project Manager jobs
It’s an exciting time to join the technology sector as we embark on several upcoming and pioneering projects. Within this role, you’ll deliver projects to time, cost and quality using a range of methods as part of our professional project management practice. Although the work itself will be varied, from day-to-day you will lead and motivate a multifunctional team and manage project lifecycles from concept through to completion.
Who do we look for?
If you’re comfortable within an agile or iterative environment, use project delivery tools (such as JIRA) and have experience running complex and sizeable projects, then you’ll be ideal for this role. In addition, you should have a confident communication style and a passion for project delivery which should guide your approach to project management.

Enterprise Architect Jobs
Could you drive valuable change within an award-winning customer focused airline? As an Enterprise Architect, you’ll support and maintain our enterprise planning models, monitor and lead the implementation of the enterprise architecture, and build visions and roadmaps to support the use of technology in our business. In addition, you’ll play a key role in enterprise innovation, such as reducing the complexity in infrastructure.
Who do we look for?
We look for individuals who can demonstrate a passion for business and architecture, keep up to date with current industry technology and trends, and showcase how your expertise can transform the business. You should have a background in various modeling techniques which will help you understand the current and future view of the business, and how it links to our technology needs.
IT Business Analyst Jobs
Conduct effective analysis to support technology and process important changes across Virgin Atlantic as an IT Business Analyst within our team. You’ll validate proposed technical solution designs and test approaches, assess and communicate the impact of proposed solutions on the organisation, and grow your business knowledge and its functions, processes, systems and technologies.
Who do we look for?
You should have experience within iterative and agile project environments, as well as conducting business analysis and managing requirements using a variety of methods. In addition, good communication and interpersonal skills are key to enable you to build relationships with others at all levels of the business.
Career progression in IT
Our organisational structure is fairly flat so you won’t come across too much hierarchy. If you’re self-motivated, there are opportunities to progress. You’ll work across multiple areas of the airline and on occasion you will work in collaboration with our joint venture partner airlines such as Delta Air Lines, so you’ll get broad exposure to different specialisms. It’s not often you have the chance to build up such experience.
We’re not necessarily looking for experts in aviation IT but we’re always keen to hear from people who are experts in this field. We’re a super supportive kind of company so you’ll be given chance to learn and progress. We’ll also support you to get professional accreditation if it’s relevant to your role.
