Graduates
About the programme
Our Graduate programme is one of the best in the business. You’ll get involved in multiple teams across our Engineering Services and Production. You’ll build up real world experience in new disciplines and learn the skills you’ll need to kick-start your career.
The programme is designed to give you a comprehensive view of the technical world of Virgin Atlantic. In fact, it’s fair to say that by the end of your training, you’ll know our fabulous fleet inside out. That’s because you’ll spend two years rotating around our entire engineering function, learning all about the maintenance and the optimisation of reliability and cost of our Airbus and Boeing aircraft, their engines, systems, cabin interiors and structures. We also want you to sharpen your commercial and project management skills.

Support throughout the Programme
We offer strong support to all of our new Graduates here at Virgin Atlantic and each Graduate is appointed a mentor during their journey.
The role of a mentor is to support a Graduate on their journey to becoming professionally recognised, either as an Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered (CEng) engineer. We as mentors typically have a single graduate each, which allows us to focus our energies on supporting individuals and tailor the support we provide. We don’t support the technical tasks our graduate is doing on a daily basis (that is up to their placement managers), but are there to guide each graduate in ways they can fulfil competencies and grow as individuals, whilst showing how work they are already doing is fulfilling the criteria set out by the Engineering Council. This inevitably also leads to advice about their future careers within Virgin Atlantic beyond the graduate scheme, as we support them until they have achieved their professional recognition, not just for the 2-year duration of the scheme. All of the mentors are Chartered Engineers themselves, so understand the requirements and opportunities each graduate requires.
“It is a rewarding role to be able to help the graduates grow personally and professionally, and one that all the mentors including myself relish and look forward to continuing with future graduates joining the company.”
Greg Mitchell, Design & Development Engineer
