As a Payroll Team Leader, you will lead a small, specialist admin and advisory team to deliver end-to-end payroll support services for both UK and International colleagues. Your role will involve overseeing data entry, accurate processing of payroll, and timely production of post-payroll reports to Finance. You will ensure compliance with all payroll processes, policies, and regulations, while continuously driving process improvements and providing proactive communications to colleagues and managers across Virgin Atlantic.
- Leading Payroll Performance: Oversee the performance of 3 Payroll Specialists, ensuring effective internal communication and collaboration with Operations Leaders. Maintain a robust control environment and ensure payroll activities are compliant, accurate, and timely.
- Reporting, Governance & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with HR to enhance online self-service options and support the delivery of an outstanding payroll service. Drive process improvements and ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll reports to senior stakeholders.
- Inquiry Management and Escalations: Manage contact inquiries into Payroll, handle escalations, and ensure the team is equipped to handle future inquiries. Maintain effective communication with operations leaders and key stakeholders.
- Training & Guidance: Develop team knowledge and confidence through various payroll courses and support international People teams with relevant training and user guides. Document processes and workflows, suggesting opportunities for simplification and employee experience improvements.
- Demonstrable understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and dependencies, with experience in preparing and delivering both UK and international payrolls.
- Strong attention to detail when working with large, complex datasets.
- Ability to diagnose root causes of problems and coach/influence accordingly.
- Experience with Oracle, Microsoft O365 suite, ADP Payroll, Benefex, Business Objects, and bespoke systems is an advantage.
- Flexible, proactive approach with the ability to suggest pragmatic solutions.
- Strong focus on controls and compliance, impeccable confidentiality record, and a patient, supportive approach to training and supporting others.
