Location:         Hybrid, 3 days a week in our VHQ, Crawley with some occasional travel across our key Virgin Atlantic UK sites

We are looking for a proactive and strategic individual to join our amazing Learning team as the Talent and Careers Manager. This role is essential in creating meaningful and impactful career development opportunities and ensuring our talent management lifecycle aligns with our company’s objectives.

As the Talent and Careers Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to retain and develop talent through creating meaningful and impactful careers. This role involves overseeing the talent management lifecycle, including career development opportunities and pathways, our talent framework and approaches, and succession planning. You will work closely with our People Partner, Learning, and Resourcing teams to ensure that we identify talent, meet our company’s talent needs, and provide opportunities for growth and development to colleagues and leaders.

Where You Fit In: This role reports to the Head of Learning and sits within the Total Learning directorate. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including senior leaders, People Partners, and external providers, to drive talent management and career initiatives.

  • Design and implement career development programmes, including career pathways to support employee growth and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement opportunities that provide employees with on-the-job learning experiences, such as job rotations, secondments, acting up schemes, and hands-on training sessions.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive talent management strategy that aligns with company objectives, identifying talent gaps, creating key talent indicators, and ensuring a pipeline of qualified and diverse candidates for key positions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in innovative and creative ways to create meaningful impact on delivery and embed into the culture and success of our people.
  • Partner with People Partners to develop and maintain succession plans for key roles within the company.
  • Use talent data to make and influence actionable decisions to support talent mobility and retention, reducing skills gaps, and promoting internal career development.
  • Ensure an inclusive talent strategy that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives.

  • Experience in delivering end to end impactful and engaging enterprise-wide talent management strategy across multiple and international locations.
  • Proven experience in up-to-date industry knowledge of talent management and career development approaches and methodology at scale in a pacey and matrixed organisation.
  • Experience of partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing enterprise-wide outcomes.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent in-house experience along with demonstrating a commitment to professional development in the field of HR and learning.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for working effectively with various senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities for managing multiple projects and ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Evidence of agile, creative and innovative 
  • Proficiency in HR software and talent management approaches and tools, including Oracle Fusion.
  • Experience in delivering on diversity and inclusion objectives, ensuring that talent management strategies are inclusive and promote diversity within the organisation.
