At Virgin Atlantic Airways, we believe that everyone can take on the world, and it's our vision to become the most loved travel company. As we embark on this next exciting stage of our journey, we’re harnessing our spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation to challenge the status quo.
Virgin Atlantic is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to lead the development and maintenance of its Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) framework. Aligned with ITIL v3 principles, the Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Manager ensures that technology teams and key partners adhere to DR and BC standards, conduct regular testing, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding the airline’s technology resilience, ensuring preparedness and rapid recovery in the face of disruption
Some of your key responsibilities as a Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Manager will be:
- Define, develop, and maintain the DR and BC framework in line with ITIL v3 best practices, whilst ensuring technology teams and partners understand, adhere to, and execute the framework.
- Develop and manage a DR testing calendar to ensure regular and systematic validation of recovery capabilities, whilst facilitating DR exercises with technology teams and key partners, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
- Ensure that technology teams and key partners have robust BC plans in place, working closely with business units to ensure alignment between business continuity and technology recovery strategies.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for service design and service transition concerning DR and BC, as well as developing dashboards and reports to provide visibility into DR readiness and BC effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to enhance DR and BC processes through lessons learned and industry best practices, whilst collaborating with technology teams to improve service resilience and reduce downtime.
We are looking for candidates who have a background in IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. We’d also love for our successful Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Manager to demonstrate the following:
- Proven expertise in IT Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) management, preferably within an ITIL v3 environment.
- Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles, as well as DR and BC best practices.
- Demonstrated ability in planning, facilitating, and analysing DR tests.
- Familiarity with risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to DR/BC.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
